Definition: Urban Planning and development activities are greatly dependent on the availability of the various Urban data such physical, social , economical, environmental etc. Realizing this context, Department of Urban Development and Building Construction (DUDBC) is preparing Physical Development Plan of different emerging town and cities, Integrated Urban Development Plan of different municipalities, Municipal Transport Master Plan, Long Term Development Plan, Multi-hazard map etc. of various urban areas of the country since its establishment, these are the valuable assets developed by DUDBC. The preparation of such a valuable document is still in the progress with the aim of covering all 753 local bodies including municipalities and village municipalities.

These datasets are very sensitive including specific individual building information as well as socio-economic information along with high resolution satellite images, which forms a very useful information base for urban planning development and urban governance. To manage these all datasets DUDBC is establishing/further developing a HUB National Information Center with complete web-based interface with data catalogue and metadata will be facilitated from where anyone can search, view, query, analyze, download the data according to the user privilege.

In this scenario, DUDBC Urban Statistical and GIS Section is hosting this web-based HUB National Information Center with their own resources and further customizing in different facilities is under development process to make user -friendly environment.

Contents of HUBNIC:

This is password protected web portal having two main application features, These are:

1 .DUDBC documents section: In this section all reports and literature having different document formats such as .jpeg, .PDF, .words, .xls, .dwg, etc are stored. These all documents can be copied and downloaded taking permission from the hosting unit. But only .pdf format documents can directly open and read in this portal. Other documents do not have these facilities because of the limited capacity of the server.

2. DUDBC GIS Map section: In this section all GIS maps prepared in different projects are stored and can be opened and downloaded. The Freely available OSM is the base for this map section. The user can make a map of different urban areas with overlaying of different thematic layers with only stored GIS data in the server.
